Dior Addict Fluid Shadow... REVIEW

I have nothing to say on my defense.

This was definitely one of those purchases where you just get carried away by a pretty swatch and the excitement that comes from buying luxury items.

I should know better than this, I should!!! But, oh well.
The best I can do at this point is stop beating myself up and begin with my thoughts on this product.

Fancy Packaging

Brush-tip Applicator
The packaging itself is in the classic luxurious silver box typical from the Dior Addict lip collection with the logo embossed on the container.
It looks exactly like a lipgloss and it comes with a synthetic brush tip applicator containing 6 ml (0.2 Fl.Oz.).

The colors are insanely gorgeous and metallic. There are 5 shades and the one I'm showing is 875 Detie which is a plumy wine wonderful color.
I did swatch all the colors that were available at my counter but unfortunately I forgot taking a picture before washing my hands.
The 4 other colors are 025 Magnetic (silver), 545 Phenix (golden), Aurora (pink/rose-gold), 655 Univers (Taupe, think MAC's satin taupe in liquid form).

The box describes it as a LONG WEAR MIRROR COLOUR EYESHADOW & LINER: an ultra-fine, lightweight hybrid texture that illuminates the eyes with sensational mirror shine and long-wearing colour. In a single step this ingenious makeup can dress the eyelid like an eyeshadow or define the eyes with a stroke of liner.

Eyeshadow Application: For optimal drying without transfer apply only on the mobile eyelid. Keep eyes closed for a few seconds after application

Liner Application: Using the brush style the eyes with a stroke of mirror colour along the lash line.

I've got to say that description and application are marvelously worded. Kudos to whoever is in charge of this job. That's as great as it goes.

The brush is honestly too thick and not tapered to make a proper eyeliner application but it works well for applying it all over the lid. When I first opened it, I could see some clumps of pigment within the formula but nothing that a little bit of shaking and mixing couldn't fix.

The formula itself is ok, it's highly pigmented, not too runny, not too thick. However, it is not waterproof, it is not smudge proof and it is not long wearing. When using it as an eyeshadow it just creased and smudged withing two hours, even with a primer. Hooded eyelids will have massive transfer within minutes.
I'll probably be using it as a liquid eyeliner adding some duraline (inglot) to prolong the wear of it, but that's about it.
It's important to mention this product isn't blendable whatsoever. It does not  work as a base. If you try to blend it you'll just get a patchy mess of color

Upper swatch with primer / Lower swatch without primer

After being rubbed with my finger 3 times

After being rubbed with my finger 10 times

As you can see, using a primer underneath does help, but even then you won't get enough time of wear with this product.

I don't see this product being great by itself for anything else other than a photo shoot where you can make constant touch-ups to the makeup.

Learn from my mistake, spare the pain. You're much better off getting a fancy Dior addict lipgloss than this fluid shadow.

INGLOT eyeshadows... REVIEW

Let's start by introducing the brand for those who have not heard of it yet.

INGLOT is a polish cosmetic brand that was founded over 30 years ago by Wojciech Wiesław Inglot. It first became fairly popular among Muslim women because of their breathable nail varnishes.
Inglot also offers a mix-and-match setup called Freedom System where you can choose different items and create your own customized palette.

Around 3 months ago I decided to invest in my kit, so I went to pick up a 20 color palette to add to it. I already had plenty of neutral beiges, browns, greys and mauves that work great for social makeup so I knew I wanted some bright colors for more creative looks.

Boutique INGLOT plaza Carso

I went to the boutique located inside Plaza Carso, Polanco in Mexico City. The MUA that assited me was Evelyn. She handed me over a flat magnetic palette and helped me choose the brightest colors. You can go around the store and pick up the eyeshadow (or any item) that you want from the display and add it to the magnetic tray.

I must say I truly LOVE the freedom system palettes and containers. They're sturdy, compact, stackable and also very neat looking. The downside is, they're kind of heavy compared let's say to cardboard palettes like Z palettes or flimsy plastic palettes like MAC's.
They're magnetic and made out of sturdy plastic (HDPE maybe). Once the product is in, don't try to pull it out with pins or a knife because you will ruin it. You'll need sort of strong magnet to pull it out. So make sure to write down the numbers of your items before putting them inside.

But anyway, lets go in depth about the product itself which are the eyeshadows.

Eyeshadows have no name on them, just a 2 or 3 digit number.

The 10* series - 101, 102, 103 - refers to the rainbow eyeshadows which have 3 different shades. The finishes are either matte or satin.

The 3** series are all fully matte eyeshadows.

4** to 6** you'll find these series on the US online store that they come with the term Pearl or DS, on the pan it doesn't say anything
DS stands for double sparkle and Pearl, well, that's pretty much self explainatory.
This range of eyeshadows have pretty much a similar finish

For the most part, these collections are really pigmented and smooth in application. They blend easily with other eyeshadows and stay on even without a primer.

The 2 digit series -57, 64, 78- along with the 1** -151, 154, 160- (make sure not to confuse it with the rainbow series) are all AMC eyeshadows.
AMC stands for Advanced Makeup Component and it is not a finish per se. It is a perspiration resistant, talc-free formula.

I am not, however, a big fan of this formula. Most of this eyeshadows have a matte base with glitter in it. They are pigmented, but the glitter doesn't really stay on unless you use a sticky primer and really pack it on.

Finally it is important to mention, that even though the pans are the same size, they don't contain the same amount of grams.
300 (matte) collection contains 2.3 grams.
400-600 collection contains 2.7 grams
Rainbow collection contains 2.5 grams
The AMC collection contains either 2.7 or 3.2 grams.

Overall they have over 250 eyeshadows that they carry in their permanent line.
Different shades with different finishes, you're very likely to find a range that suits your personal taste or your kit's needs.
A very good value to your starter kit as a makeup artist or as a beauty lover.

Eyeshadow pan $ 7 usd
Rainbow eyeshadow pan $ 9 usd

Membresía MAC Pro México

MACpro
