Dior Addict Fluid Shadow... REVIEW

I have nothing to say on my defense.

This was definitely one of those purchases where you just get carried away by a pretty swatch and the excitement that comes from buying luxury items.

I should know better than this, I should!!! But, oh well.
The best I can do at this point is stop beating myself up and begin with my thoughts on this product.

Fancy Packaging

Brush-tip Applicator
The packaging itself is in the classic luxurious silver box typical from the Dior Addict lip collection with the logo embossed on the container.
It looks exactly like a lipgloss and it comes with a synthetic brush tip applicator containing 6 ml (0.2 Fl.Oz.).

The colors are insanely gorgeous and metallic. There are 5 shades and the one I'm showing is 875 DetinĂ©e which is a plumy wine wonderful color.
I did swatch all the colors that were available at my counter but unfortunately I forgot taking a picture before washing my hands.
The 4 other colors are 025 Magnetic (silver), 545 Phenix (golden), Aurora (pink/rose-gold), 655 Univers (Taupe, think MAC's satin taupe in liquid form).

The box describes it as a LONG WEAR MIRROR COLOUR EYESHADOW & LINER: an ultra-fine, lightweight hybrid texture that illuminates the eyes with sensational mirror shine and long-wearing colour. In a single step this ingenious makeup can dress the eyelid like an eyeshadow or define the eyes with a stroke of liner.

Eyeshadow Application: For optimal drying without transfer apply only on the mobile eyelid. Keep eyes closed for a few seconds after application

Liner Application: Using the brush style the eyes with a stroke of mirror colour along the lash line.

I've got to say that description and application are marvelously worded. Kudos to whoever is in charge of this job. That's as great as it goes.

The brush is honestly too thick and not tapered to make a proper eyeliner application but it works well for applying it all over the lid. When I first opened it, I could see some clumps of pigment within the formula but nothing that a little bit of shaking and mixing couldn't fix.

The formula itself is ok, it's highly pigmented, not too runny, not too thick. However, it is not waterproof, it is not smudge proof and it is not long wearing. When using it as an eyeshadow it just creased and smudged withing two hours, even with a primer. Hooded eyelids will have massive transfer within minutes.
I'll probably be using it as a liquid eyeliner adding some duraline (inglot) to prolong the wear of it, but that's about it.
It's important to mention this product isn't blendable whatsoever. It does not  work as a base. If you try to blend it you'll just get a patchy mess of color

After being rubbed with my finger 3 times

After being rubbed with my finger 10 times

As you can see, using a primer underneath does help, but even then you won't get enough time of wear with this product.

I don't see this product being great by itself for anything else other than a photo shoot where you can make constant touch-ups to the makeup.

Learn from my mistake, spare the pain. You're much better off getting a fancy Dior addict lipgloss than this fluid shadow.
